Frequently Asked Questions
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Carleton University.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP #009331) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #10002625) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, a Conseillère en Orientation (CO #21646-25) with l’Ordre des Conseillers et Conseillères d’Orientation du Québec, and a certified Naturotherapist (NA-8312) with the Quebec Naturotherapist Association (l’Association des Naturothérapeutes du Québec).
I am currently working toward licensure with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ) to practice psychotherapy in Québec.
With my training and several years of experience, I support individuals in areas such as emotional well-being, personal growth, identity, and relationships, providing counselling that is compassionate, evidence-informed, and tailored to each client’s needs.
A counsellor typically helps individuals address a specific difficulty, current challenge, or surface-level issue, such as stress, relationship conflicts, identity questions, or life transitions. A psychotherapist tends to work with deeper, long-standing difficulties that affect a person’s overall well-being, including diagnosed mental health conditions, trauma, complex grief, or patterns rooted in past experiences.
Both counsellors and psychotherapists can support a range of issues, and in my practice, I help clients navigate emotional well-being, personal growth, identity, relationships, and coping with challenges like anxiety, depression, burnout, perinatal mental health concerns, amongst other issues.
Psychotherapy often explores internal patterns that influence life choices, while counselling can provide strategies and guidance for dealing with problems triggered by external circumstances.
The first session helps us establish if we are a good fit. This is the opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your reasons for seeking counseling and your goals or expectations for the therapeutic process. I will share my therapeutic approach; and together, we may begin to identify specific goals or areas to focus on during the course of therapy. I will also go over some necessary paperwork, such as consent forms or an intake questionnaire.
The sessions are 50 minute in length for individual therapy, 80 minute in length for couples, and the initial phone consultation is 15-minute long.
This will be discussed during our first meeting as it would depend on each client.
Your privacy is a top priority. While our services are confidential, certain legal or ethical obligations may require disclosure. As a mental health professional, I adhere to a strict code of ethics, which dictates that the information you share will be kept confidential, disclosed only with your explicit consent or when mandated by law.
Instances where confidentiality may be breached include situations involving imminent harm to yourself or others, cases of child or elder abuse, compliance with court orders or legal obligations, disclosure at your specific request, or for professional supervision and consultation.
Details about your confidentiality rights will be discussed in your first session and provided in our informed consent forms.
