Psychotherapy is a way to help people who are dealing with a variety of life challenges, mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Mental health professionals help individuals reach their goals, increase their well-being and overall health.
The decision to start therapy is not always easy, there is a mixture of stigma, guilt or misinformation involved. That being said, I commend you for looking into a therapist as it is the first step towards your healing process.
